DAVID AUSTIN ROSES

The Old Vicarage Hotel & Restaurant is ideally situated for a visit to David Austin Roses in the nearby town of Albrighton.

The rose has always been the best-loved of all garden flowers and remains so today; from the Old Roses, with their shrubby growth, old world charm and rich fragrance, to the Modern Hybrid Teas and Floribundas, with their crisp buds and useful bedding qualities. What other flower can be used in so many ways, or produce so much beauty and fragrance over so long a period?

In 2001 David Austin Roses opened a new Plant Centre which includes not only one of the finest and most complete collections of roses obtainable anywhere, but also a great variety of interesting plants, trees and shrubs.

David Austin Roses launched six new varieties at Chelsea last year, and some well known celebrities turned out to see them. Well known gardening celebrities Charlie Dimmock and Rachel de Thame visited the stand. Charlie attended with the Duchess of Northumberland to launch the Alnwick Castle rose. Rachel took particular interest in the lovely pure apricot rose called Grace.Wine expert and TV personality Jilly Goolden was invited specially to help launch the Comtes de Champagne rose, named after Taittinger's finest champagne. The Managing Director of Taittinger was also present.
